If you already live here, you know the summer concerts at Highland Heritage wrap up at the end of July and the calendar looks, on paper, like it goes quiet. It does not. What actually happens is that the center of gravity shifts. The Thursday-night concert crowd disperses, and the weekend calendar reorganizes around three fixed points: Sunday mornings at Town Center, Saturday programming at Backcountry Base Camp, and a tight three-week run of Mansion events in September that quietly decides where half the neighborhood spends its Saturdays.
The thesis of this post is small but useful: Highlands Ranch's fall is not a scattered event list. It is a Sunday-anchored rhythm with two competing weekend poles, and the food map has moved this year in a way that matters for where you eat before and after.
The Sunday anchor at Town Center
The one thing that does not change from April through the first week of November is the Sunday farmers market at Highlands Ranch Town Center, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 9288 Dorchester St. Every other calendar item this fall floats around it. The market runs every Sunday from April 5 through November 1, which means you have roughly thirteen more Sundays before it closes for the year, and the last four or five of those are the ones with the best apples, squash, and end-of-season cut flowers from the Front Range growers.
Two practical notes for residents who have not been in a while. The market is outdoors and runs rain or shine, with free parking in the Town Center Parking Garage, which is worth remembering on the Sundays when Dorchester fills up before 10:15. And all locations participate in the SNAP program and accept EBT payments, which is quietly one of the more useful facts about the market that almost nobody mentions.
September 12 is the day you have to pick a side
The single busiest Saturday on the fall calendar is September 12, and it is busy because two well-attended events land on the same day in different parts of the community. If you have kids in a stroller and want a low-lift morning, you go one direction. If you want the Mansion grounds and a ticketed event with more atmosphere, you go the other. You cannot easily do both.
The Mansion side
Highlands Ranch Western Fest lands at the Mansion on Saturday, September 12, as a ticketed event. The Mansion grounds are the draw here as much as the programming. If you have out-of-town family visiting that weekend, this is the one to buy tickets for in advance.
The Eastridge side
The Fall Craft Fair is the same day, September 12, at Eastridge Rec Center, with free admission. Free, indoors, and easy to combine with a morning at the farmers market the next day. This is the choice if your Saturday is already half-committed and you want an hour of browsing without a ticket.
Two weeks later, on Friday, September 25, the Mansion hosts Fête des Fables: Snow White, a ticketed evening gala. It is the dressier bookend to Western Fest, and it is the reason the last full weekend in September tends to feel like the social peak of the season.
The Backcountry pulls the calendar south
The other weekend pole is the 8,200-acre HRCA-managed Backcountry Wilderness Area south of Highlands Ranch, with Base Camp at 6005 Ron King Trail hosting the public programming. Base Camp is a fifteen-minute drive from most of the north neighborhoods, which is why a lot of residents up there forget how much runs out of it in the fall.
The Backcountry's fall calendar builds toward two anchors:
- Fall Fest at Base Camp. A family day of pancakes, pumpkin picking, pony rides, arts and crafts, face-painting, a bounce obstacle course, and a live animal presentation. Kid tickets run $25 for ages 1-14 for all-access including a pumpkin and pancakes, with $7 food-only tickets for pancakes, sausage, and a breakfast beverage. Compare that to a Front Range pumpkin patch admission plus concessions and it is the more efficient morning by a fair margin.
- The Backcountry Wilderness Half Marathon. Saturday, November 7, 2026, starting at 9:00 AM at Rocky Heights Middle School. This is the race that closes out the outdoor season for a lot of running households in Highlands Ranch.
If you have never been down to Base Camp, the fall drive alone is worth the trip. The cottonwoods along the access roads turn later than the aspens, so late October is often the best window.
Two Oktoberfests, one week apart
One of the small quirks of the Highlands Ranch calendar is that there are two Oktoberfest events in September, and they are not the same event and not run by the same people.
The first is at Prost Brewing. Vinyl Nation plays a live Gen-X rock and roll set at Prost Brewing Company Highlands Ranch's Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 19 from 12:30 PM. This is the brewery-run version. Beer-forward, live music, walk-up.
The second is at Town Center. Highlands Ranch Oktoberfest Celebration lands at Highlands Ranch Town Center on Saturday, September 26 from 1:00 PM. This is the community-facing version, in the same footprint the farmers market uses on Sundays, and it tends to draw the stroller crowd and the families who would not necessarily make a trip to Prost.
If you are new to the neighborhood and someone tells you they are going to "the Oktoberfest," ask which one. In our experience, half the confusion in September group chats every year comes from residents assuming there is only one.
The 22nd of August is the other date to hold. The Summer Sunset Concert at Civic Green Park runs from 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 22, and it is the last of the outdoor concerts that reliably pulls a full-park crowd. If you missed the Thursday series in June and July, this is the one to actually put on the calendar.
Where the food map moved this year
The reason to bother with a fall calendar post at all, rather than just linking to the HRCA events page, is that residents actually want to know where to eat before and after. Two openings this year have shifted where the "meeting up first" conversation lands.
Egg Harbor Cafe. The Midwest breakfast and lunch restaurant is now open in Highlands Ranch, with cage-free eggs, premium fair-trade coffee, and an extensive gluten-free menu. This is the brand's first Colorado location, with a second Colorado restaurant set to open in the Denver Tech Center at Belleview Station. The location that matters for a fall morning: 9579 S University Blvd, Lot 3B, open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., no reservations. That is a ten-minute drive from the Town Center farmers market, and the 7 a.m. open means it is genuinely useful for the pre-market breakfast that Highlands Ranch has been quietly missing for a couple of years. The space Egg Harbor moved into was previously home to HopsnDrops, a brewery that closed, which is why the exterior looks familiar if you have not driven that stretch of University in a while.
Graze Craze. A specialty charcuterie concept currently under construction at 2670 East County Line Rd, Suite I in Highlands Ranch's Promenade Shopping Center. Founded in 2020 by U.S. Air Force veteran Kerry Sylvester, with local franchisee Sara Clay overseeing the Highlands Ranch location. An official opening date has not yet been announced, but the latest updates hint that doors will open soon. Worth watching because a ready-to-serve charcuterie board picked up on the way to a Mansion event is a genuinely different pre-gala option than what has been available.
Neither of these is going to displace the neighborhood standbys. What they do is give the fall calendar two new pre-event options that did not exist a year ago, and the Egg Harbor location in particular changes the Sunday-morning routine for anyone who was previously driving down to Lone Tree for breakfast before the market.

The pattern to notice: the market and Base Camp are the two things that run all season. Everything else is a two- or three-hour commitment that clusters into a five-Saturday window between September 12 and October 10. If you plan around those two Saturdays and the last Sunday of the market in early November, you have hit the actual shape of the Highlands Ranch fall.
